The workbench

Tiles, the composer, message actions, the work panel and the sidebar.

Tiles

Work mode holds up to four tiles; chat mode holds one. Each tile runs its own conversation loop, and several can stream at once. A conversation is open in one tile at most; choosing it in the sidebar focuses the tile that already holds it.

Splitting offers Side by side or Top and bottom. A direction that would make a tile too small is shown as unavailable, and if neither fits, Ave says why.

A tile’s header carries the conversation title, then pin, export (Markdown or JSON) and import, then Split pane, Show only this pane and Close pane.

The composer

Enter
While a turn is running, the message joins the queue. The turn picks it up at its next brake point; anything still waiting when the turn ends is sent as a new message.
⌘ / Ctrl + Enter
Stops the running turn and sends now.
A refused send
If the host refuses a send, your text and attachments come back to the composer with the reason.

Queued and interrupting messages are labelled in the transcript, and an answer you stopped keeps a “stopped by user” badge.

Message actions

Hover your own message for Edit, Fork and Return here. Return here removes everything after that message, from the transcript, the queue and the session on disk, and puts its text back in the composer. It is offered only when no turn is still producing output.

You can also branch from a checkpoint, edit and resend, export and compact. Long conversations are compacted automatically. When the agent needs an answer from you, a question card appears in that conversation’s tile.

The work panel

Files, Preview, Browser, Terminal, Sub-agents and Side chat share one card that stands the full height of its tile, docked beside the transcript when there’s room and floating over it when there isn’t.

  • The Browser tab lists the session’s web sources and marks each as requested or returned in a result.
  • The Files tab lists the session’s files with what was done to each: read, written, attached or tool.
  • Plugin and MCP call counts are rebuilt from the transcript, so they survive a reload.
