Download Ave

Choose your system and get the installer. Current builds are unsigned, so the first launch needs the steps below.

  • macOS Apple Silicon, DMG, arm64

  • Windows Windows 10 or later, Installer, x64

  • Linux AppImage, x86_64

macOS

The build is not signed with an Apple Developer certificate, so Gatekeeper stops the first launch. Open the DMG, drag Ave into Applications, then run these two commands in Terminal. Intel Macs are not supported.

  1. Clear the quarantine flag
    sudo xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Ave.app"
  2. Open Ave
    open "/Applications/Ave.app"

An unsigned Mac build cannot replace itself. When Ave offers an update, download the new DMG here and repeat the same two steps.

Get the installer

Windows

The installer is unsigned, so Microsoft Defender SmartScreen warns on first launch.

  1. Run the installer you downloaded.
  2. When “Windows protected your PC” appears, choose More info.
  3. Choose Run anyway.

Or: right-click the installer, open Properties, tick Unblock on the General tab, and the warning does not appear.

Get the installer

Linux

The AppImage needs no installation. Make it executable and run it.

  1. Make it executable
    chmod +x Ave-*-linux-x86_64.AppImage
  2. Run it
    ./Ave-*-linux-x86_64.AppImage
  3. If it says AppImages require FUSE, install FUSE 2
    sudo apt install libfuse2

On Ubuntu 24.04 and later the package is libfuse2t64. On Fedora: sudo dnf install fuse fuse-libs.
